The works on display will include collagraphic monoprints that incorporate chine colle with photographic elements. The prints reference plant and landscape forms as well as the human form.
"Petrillo’s work has a tactile and sculptural quality not often seen in prints, and so these two-dimensional pieces often have the presence of objects," notes Ben Potter, Associate Professor and curator of the Unity College Art Gallery. "She also works in series, and these variations make for nuanced investigations of the subjects." The exhibition will run from September 4th through October 9th. All are invited to the opening reception on September 4th from 4-5:30 p.m.
- Fall Free Film Series: Too Hot Not to Handle. 7 pm at Unity Centre.
A primer on global warming, Too Hot Not to Handle features contributions from leading scientists in the field. In addition to in-depth discussions of such subjects as the greenhouse effect, hurricanes, snowpack, hybrid vehicles, and alternative power sources, the film shows how businesses, local governments, and citizens are taking positive actions to reduce global warming emissions. Too Hot Not to Handle offers a wealth of chilling evidence that the greenhouse effect is intensifying and the Earth is warming faster than at any other time in human history.
Admission free.

- Unity College and Reverb Rock are pleased to co-sponsor Macpodz in a free concert at the Amphitheatre at Unity College at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the general public.
The Macpodz easily please music lovers, from fans of far out jazz to those rootsy jam band-style grooves. The inventor and namesake of its own brand of funky dance music, coined 'disco-bebop,' The Macpodz pay homage to kinky musical concoctions like the groovy, unstructured big band instrumental works of the late, great Frank Zappa with psychadelic tinges of sunglasses-and-afro era Miles Davis.
Thursday September 11
- Fall Free Film Series
WTC: The First 24 Hours. 7 pm at Unity Centre.
What began as a simple documentary film about a rookie New York City firefighter was completely transformed when French filmmakers and brothers Jules and Gedeon Naudet captured the only footage of the first plane hitting the World Trade Centre. What follows is one of the most visceral accounts of the familiar events of September 11th.
Thursday September 18
- Fall Free Film Series
The Real Dirt on Farmer John 7 pm at Unity Centre.
With the death of his father during the late 60s, a teenaged John takes over the traditional family farm, slowly turning it into an experiment of art and agriculture, making it a haven for hippies, radicals and artists. The Real Dirt on Farmer John charts the end of this idealistic era as the farm debt crisis of the 80's brings about the tragic collapse of the farm. 83 min.

In the Gallery
Fine cabinets, cutting boards, boxes and other wooden art objects created by artist/craftsman Mark Quill will be on display in the gallery during the month of Sept. There will be two chances to meet the artist at public receptions on Sept. 12th and Sept. 20th. Quill lives in Unity with his wife Eliza, two daughters, two cats and Mahu, the pug. His wooden creations are made entirely of recycled wood, pieces leftover from projects at Heartwood Millworks in Northport where he is employed. "I am proud to say that all of the wood used for my pieces is saved from the dumpster!" says Quill.
The gallery is open when performances are scheduled or by appointment by calling 568-3147 or 948-7469.
